Sun JCC has an opening for a Senior Accountant to join our team.
This is a full-time exempt position based in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Our campus features a state-of-the-art fitness center, outdoor
pools, gymnasium, early childhood education center, cultural

membership at The J, and program discounts. Summary: The Senior
Accountant ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and
reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger.
Assists in maintaining financial records and ensuring that
financial transactions are properly recorded according to GAAP. The
Senior Accountant will work closely with department heads to
compare budget to actual and understand variances. Analyze the
financial statements for discrepancies and alert the CFO of any
inaccuracies. Investigates and resolve problems related to budgets,
expenditures, and procurement practices. Assists in the
development, implementation, and maintenance of internal financial
systems and procedures, applying basic concepts, methods, and
techniques. Close the month's end at the required due dates.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Must possess excellent
verbal and written communication skills Maintain excellent
interpersonal skills and flexibility when needed Superior attention
to detail, problem-solving ability, and analytical skills are
essential Prepare the daily cash report and ensure cash balances
are maintained at an acceptable amount. Defer and recognize revenue
and expenses per GAAP for non-profits Maintains and records a
complete and systematic set of business transactions. Balances
ledgers, reconciles accounts and prepares reports to show receipts,
expenditures, accounts receivable, and payable. Understands the
overall financial health of a company and can effectively
communicate the results to managers as requested. Ability to work
with numbers and analyze data compiled by financial reports.
Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
Manage the monthly close process to ensure we are timely for due
dates. Providing accurate and complete accounting records, which
conform to standards defined within the organization. Create,
monitor, and manage receivables, accruals, and deferrals consistent
with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Manage fixed asset
and depreciation expense records. Provide information to external
auditors for the annual audit and tax returns. Includes providing
requests and ensuring fieldwork and audit report are completed in a
timely manner. Perform all functions according to GAAP. Other
duties as assigned by the CFO. Assist the Junior Accountant in
reconciling accounts monthly to ensure accurate reporting and
ledger maintenance. Delegate financial responsibilities to the
accounting team. Provides financial information to the CFO by
researching and analyzing accounting data; preparing reports.
Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling
and analyzing account information. Summarizes current financial
status by collecting information, and preparing balance sheet,
profit and loss statement, and other reports. Maintains financial
security by following internal controls. Key Competencies for

Organized Multitasker Requirements: Qualification: Bachelor's in
accounting is preferred. An active CPA/CMA license is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years accounting experience MBA and/or
CPA/CMA a plus Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in
accounting, finance, or business administration required Strong
understanding of accounting principles, and knowledge of Generally
Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), including intercompany
transactions and fund accounting Experience with a charitable or
nonprofit organization preferred Non-profit accounting and
financial reporting experience preferred but not required Strong
verbal and written communication skills Proficient in using Excel,
financial reporting systems, and other related software. Must have
a track record demonstrating capability to learn and master new
systems. Must be able to manage multiple priorities and projects
simultaneously. Must have effective organizational skills. Must be
able to effectively collaborate and communicate with department
heads. Experience with Microsoft Great Plains, Management Reporter,
Dynamic Budgets, or iSolved is a plus. To learn more about the J,
