Job Description SummaryJob DescriptionThe Manager of Medical Affairs will act as a liaison between clinicians and the division cross functional teams by providing high level strategic and scientific expertise related to assigned programs (e.g., BDPI Oncology & BAV portfolios). -Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: organizing events at scientific meetings including podium strategy, publication content generation and strategy, and general KOL management. - The individual will also help facilitate or provide guidance in other key areas, as applicable, including physician training and clinical study design inputs, . -The Manager of Medical Affairs will be responsible for aligning the critical areas of the Medical Affairs group (Medical Affairs, Clinical Affairs, Clinical Sciences, Physician Training) for assigned programs (note, this does not imply direct supervisory responsibilities of these groups). -This position may also provide support for society and public outreach and media resources, direct to patient activities, and other category leadership aspects outside of product development.

  • Drive cross functional alignment on and execution of the clinical data communication strategy including publications, podium presentations, and symposia
  • Drive the strategy for BDPI and physician generated clinical data utilization for assigned programs from a medical affairs perspective and in support of Clinical Affairs
  • At times serve as a liaison between clinicians and cross-functional teams
  • Serves as a resource for the Clinical Affairs team to facilitate a deeper understanding of the scientific aspects of a clinical study.- This includes providing feedback on assigned clinical study protocols to ensure the data collection requirements are clear and supportive of marketing/publication objectives
  • Provide relevant disease state and device training to medical affairs team members, as applicable
  • Support matters pertaining to society and public outreach and media sources
  • Manage, plan and deliver on specific one-time assignments inclusive of meetings, medical advisory boards and specialty society engagements
  • In conjunction with other groups, assist in the development of training tools, sales training content and educational programs for assigned programs
  • Partner with key opinion leaders on therapy refinement and new applications, specifically:
    • Identify and prioritize outstanding clinical questions that need to be addressed;
    • Facilitate peer-to-peer training and troubleshooting; and
    • Organize Medical Advisory Councils
    • Supervise Medical Affairs personnel, as applicableBasic Qualifications:
      • Minimum 5 plus years' experience in medical device industry; interventional radiology, oncology, vascular surgery or interventional cardiology highly preferred
      • Minimum basic understanding of medical device regulation, clinical aptitude in therapeutic areas, global cultural understanding and hospital/lab procedures
      • Evidence generation experience
      • Experience in clinical sciences, physicians training and medical/clinical affairs
      • Experience in cross-functional/team work relationships
      • Proficiency in the use of personal computers including all related software applications - PowerPoint, Excel, MSWord.- Experience with graphics is preferred.
      • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
      • Possess strong problem-solving and analytical skill
      • Understand and interpret technical, scientific and clinical information
      • Ability to lead and to translate issues into actions; make decisions and influence outcomes
      • Ability to manage programs within budgetEducation and/or Experience:BA/BS in health science, life science, biological, medical/clinical sciences or related field preferred; MS/PhD in these areas preferredBecton, Dickinson and Company is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
