Job DescriptionGilbert, AZ Store Manager duties and responsibilities

  • Recruiting, interviewing, hiring, disciplining and firing staff at the store
  • Creating employee schedules, assigning schedules and responsibilities to employees, checking to see if these responsibilities and assignments are carried through in the store
  • Training new employees and providing ongoing education for employees
  • Evaluating staff based on performance-based metrics
  • Setting criteria for staff, such as sales performance and customer approval or complaints
  • Giving staff financial goals and sales targets to meet on a scheduled basis
  • Managing the store, both retail and company, inventory, including loss prevention through theft and breakage
  • Helping to create advertising campaigns for attracting new customers and retaining current customers and helping to create both in and outside store promotions for attracting customers

    What does a Store Manager do?The duties of a Store Manager may vary from store to store, but usually, a Store Manager is someone who manages employee schedules and employee payroll. They also are in charge of employee hiring, employee performance issues, discipline and firing. A Store Manager will delegate responsibilities to employees to ensure the store operates safely for the customers. In interacting with customers, the Store Manager will usually deal with customer complaints and other feedback, have communication with vendors and manage loss prevention. Other jobs a Store Manager may have are opening and closing up the store every day, supervising the stocking of shelves and ensuring the store is presentable and clean for shoppers. The Store Manager is responsible for counting the money in the register drawers and checking receipts for financial accuracy.
