Senior Mechanical / Structural Engineer

Perform complex mechanical packaging design and analysis for
space flight electronics projects. Candidate should have an
excellent working knowledge of dynamics and thermal effects and be
capable of performing structural and thermal analysis/hand
calculations to ensure critical electronic components will survive
the required operational and test environments. Packaging of
electronic components requires excellent working knowledge
manufacturing workmanship standards to facilitate assembly, wiring,
and soldering. Generate mechanical fabrication drawings, assembly
drawings, interface control documents, and procedures as required
across various products and programs. Maintenance and revision of
engineering drawings, parts lists, and procedures will be performed
accurately and expediently in a fast pace work environment. Design
fixtures and tooling required to facilitate manufacturing and
integration of products. Ideal candidate will have extensive
experience supporting vibration, shock, and thermal vacuum testing.
Job requires good verbal and written communication skills, working
in a team environment, to ensure projects are executed quickly and
accurately. Job may require mentoring, and supervision of tasks to
other junior team members.
- Knowledge and experience with electronics packaging or similar
- Knowledge and experience working with 3D CAD and Simulation
software (Solidworks experience is preferred).
- Knowledge and experience of finite element modeling and thermal
and structural analysis (using NASTRAN&FEMAP or ANSYS).
- Understanding and application of GD&T and tolerancing
practices and implementation on drawings.
- Understanding and experience with Stress and Thermal Analysis.
Experience with application of Steinberg component fatigue
- Understanding of documentation/configuration management best
- Understanding and experience with machining and fabrication
- Understanding and experience with NASA and/or military
electronics manufacturing and soldering standards.
- Understanding and experience with adhesives, bondings, platings
- Basic understanding of electrical engineering concepts.
- This position requires access to US Export Controlled
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
B.S Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 10+ years work
experience in electronics packaging or similar work experience
