By listening to the needs of users, caregivers, and providers, Dexcom simplifies and improves diabetes management around the world.Functional Description: Professional Individual ContributorPerforms and facilitates operation and maintenance of utility and building systems.Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Performs skilled duties in the operation, maintenance and alteration/repair of any utility and building system, controls, sub-systems and accessories. Performs a variety of test procedures standard to the trade such as, but not limited to, take readings on boilers, tests medium temperature of water, steamed condensate, water hardness, etc. to maintain and extend the life of equipment. Tests and calibrates systems and equipment, diagnoses equipment problems and initiates/completes repairs through the various equipment and service management systems. Communicates with senior staff to document corrective action necessary to avoid malfunctions, energy excesses, shutdown, or damage of any system. Advises supervisor of delays, problems and work assignment progress. Assists in the maintenance of files related to utility and building systems diagrams generated from field investigations. Maintains acceptable attendance record, punctuality and meeting deadlines. Participates in training sessions and seminars. Maintains a functional awareness of the typical hazards of the workplace as well as the special hazards that may be encountered at Dexcom, such as biohazards, radiation, chemicals, etc. Follows established procedures for dealing with such potential hazards. Promptly reports accidents on the job, preparing and submitting accident reports. Adheres to policies, procedures and practices on safety and operation instructions. Complies with rules and regulations applicable to building codes.Required Qualifications/Education: Trade school or journeyman license or equivalent years' experience Must have at least 0-2 years of cGMP experience in commercial manufacturing facilities support. Must have at least 0-2 years of experience with building management systems, validated equipment monitoring systems and calibration systems. Knowledge of proper use and maintenance of hand and power tools related to job functions. Advance knowledge of at least one of building systems such as (HVAC) and pneumatic controls, building steam systems, domestic and industrial water systems, compressed air systems, refrigeration, air conditioning compressors and controls, water systems, electrical systems, Emergency Generator, UPS and other related controls and systems. Ability to understand and apply company and departmental policies and procedures. Knowledge of building codes, rules, and regulations as well as procedures related to the position. Physical ability to perform tasks assigned to job function. Ability to move through limited access spaces and cover distances on foot to widely separated work sites. Knowledge of tests performed for systems operations with ability to determine repair needs and effectively communicate them to supervisor.Functional/Business Knowledge: Establishes and maintains a positive and cooperative working relationship with co-workers and members of other departments. Effectively communicates orally, in writing and electronically. Can use MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, MS Office, Blue Beam or Adobe Pro, Visio, and other communication and presentation tools. Maintains proficiency at current level and continually updates knowledge through appropriate courses, seminars, publications and contacts with others in the trade. Works effectively in a service-oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities.Scope: Work at this level requires ability to work independently, perform regular maintenance assignments and follow through. Follows pre-established guidelines and procedures within established guidelines. Has contact with employees at other levels within the company. Information exchanged can be specific to engineering and moderately complex.Judgement: Normally follows established procedures on routine work, requires instructions only on new assignments.Travel Required: 0 - 24%Language Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
