12 Operating Rooms which includes 8 in the Main OR and 4 located at
the Banner Gateway Surgery Center on campus. BGMC offers a wide
range of surgical specialties serving a mostly adult population.
BGMC supplies all surgical support to Banner MD Anderson Cancer
Center. As a Surgical Technologist in the Operating Room, you will
have the opportunity to work with BGMCs OR specilaities such as
Oncologic, Bariatric, Robotic, General, Urology, GYN, Orthopedics
and other specialties. As a Surgical Technologist, you will bring your experience and
passion for health care to our Surgery department! Full Time
available days, M-F 6:30am-3pm or evening shift (10s or 12s) with
call and holiday requirements. Weekend rotations may be required in
this role. Enjoy a flat rate $1/hour weekend shift differential and

in Gilbert, Ariz., Banner Gateway Medical Center offers 176 private
rooms, eight operating suites, a 37-bed emergency department and
shares a campus with the Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center. Key
specialties include oncology, obstetrics, bariatric surgery,
emergency and other services that focus on meeting the changing
needs of the dynamic and growing community we serve. About Banner
MD Anderson Cancer Center Located in Gilbert, Ariz. (the Phoenix
Metro area) on the Banner Gateway Campus, the center provides
world-class care for oncology patients - both inpatient and
outpatient - and has also brought leading oncology programs to the
Banner Gateway campus including Stem Cell Transplantation and
comprehensive Head & Neck cancer care. Our capabilities include
five linear accelerator vaults, a brachytherapy vault, an advanced
diagnostic imaging suite with PET/CT scan, more than 50 infusion
bays, a cryopreservation lab and much more. Our inpatient medical
oncology unit also incorporates a program that utilizes the
electronic surveillance partnership in caring for the patient,
where remote nurses have the ability to interact with patients via
two way audio-video to assist the bedside nurse with patient
care. POSITION SUMMARY This position selects and places surgical instruments, supplies
and equipment during surgery. Scrubs and provides instruments,
sutures, and other sterile supplies during surgical procedure.
Participants in the training and orientation of surgical technology
staff and students, as assigned. Is proficient to scrub on a
minimum of 2 surgical specialties. CORE FUNCTIONS Prepares for surgical procedures. Pulls appropriate instruments
and supplies and ensures good working order of instruments. Reviews
case carts for correct instruments and supplies. Troubleshoots
malfunctioning equipment and makes minor adjustments or calls
biomedical equipment staff. Checks schedule and plans ahead for
upcoming surgical case needs. Anticipates the surgeon's needs. Passes instruments, retracts
tissue and operates equipment during surgery. Maintains competency
to scrub in a minimum of 2 surgical specialties. Demonstrates the principles of aseptic technique and universal
precautions throughout the procedure. Disposes of sharps and trash
and places used supplies into case cart for processing.
Participates in counting sharps, instruments and sponges. Prepares
instruments for cleaning following each case. Ensures that all surgeon preference cards and pick lists are
accurate. Assists with OR turnover between cases. Participates in
stocking, replenishing supplies and cleaning operating rooms. Participants in or leads the training and orientation of
surgical technology staff and students, as assigned. May provide business support to the department including
administravie tasks. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge and
current basic life support certification, also required is current
certification as a surgical technologist. Where applicable must be registered with State Regulatory
Agency This position requires skills and abilities typically attained
with 2 or more years of operating room experience and must be able
to scrub proficiently on a minimum of 2 surgical specialties. The
position requires manual dexterity and the ability to maintain
professional decorum in highly stressful emergent situations. The
position requires the ability to be conscientious, organized, and
orderly and the ability to respond quickly to the needs of the
surgeon and patient. Must stay abreast of new developments in the
field. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Graduation from an accredited school of surgical technology is
highly preferred. Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
