At PetSmart, Inc., a leader in North American pet retail, we are seeking a detail-oriented Merchandise Planner to join our vibrant team. This role involves strategic inventory management and sales forecasting to ensure our stores remain stocked with the best products for pets and their owners. By balancing financial acumen with a passion for pet care, our ideal candidate will support our mission to meet the comprehensive lifetime needs of pets, spanning food, grooming, and training essentials. This position requires analytical prowess and a deep understanding of demand planning to optimize product availability and profitability. Develop and execute inventory strategies that align with company objectives and market trends. Analyze sales data to forecast demand and prepare for future inventory needs. Collaborate with buyers and category managers to identify product opportunities and optimize the product mix. Manage Open to Buy, turnover, and markdown levels to maximize profitability. Work closely with the logistics and supply chain teams to ensure timely delivery of products. Present financial and inventory reports regularly to senior management. Strong analytical and quantitative skills Proficiency in retail management systems and Microsoft Excel Excellent communication and collaboration abilities Ability to manage complex budgets and forecast for future needs Knowledge of pet industry trends is preferred Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or similar is considered an asset.
